As the dismantling progresses I have so far indentified seven locations where the VIN number can be found.
Firstly the VIN can be found in the four usual places:
– On the vehicle weight plate rivetted to the bulkhead at the rear of the engine bay,
– Stamped into the bulkhead at the rear of the engine bay (behind some rigid brake pipes)
– Rivetted to the top of the dashboard near the windscreen on the passenger side (as part of the SRS Airbag label)
– A tamper proof sticker on the body shell, driver’s side, near to the door latch / catch.
It can also be found:
– A tamper proof sticker on the underside of the bonnet.
– A tamper proof sticker on the underside of the boot lid.
– A tamper proof sticker on the hinge end of the passenger door.
